You can delete your DGTrack account and its data at any time. Here’s how, what goes, and what doesn’t.
Delete your account from the app
This is the fastest route and it takes effect immediately.
- Open DGTrack and go to Settings.
- Choose Account, then Delete account.
- Confirm. You’ll be asked twice — deletion is permanent and we’d rather you didn’t do it by accident.
Ask us to delete it instead
If you’ve uninstalled the app, changed phones, or simply can’t get in, email help@dgtrack.store with the subject Delete my account.
Send it from the email address you signed up with. That’s how we confirm the request is really from you — we won’t delete an account on the word of someone we can’t verify, because doing so would be its own kind of security problem. If you can’t send from that address, tell us and we’ll find another way to verify you.
We’ll confirm within 5 business days and complete the deletion within 30 days.
Delete some data, but keep your account
You don’t have to delete everything to delete something.
- A single entry — open it in the timeline and delete it.
- A dog — you get two options. Archiving removes the dog from the family view and keeps every record, so it can be brought back. Permanent deletion is a separate action, confirmed twice, and removes that dog’s records and photos for good. A dog who has passed shouldn’t be one tap from being erased, which is why these are deliberately not the same button.
- Photos — remove the attachment from the record it’s on.
- Walk routes — delete the walk entry and its route goes with it.
- Health Connect data — walks DGTrack wrote to Health Connect live in Health Connect, not in our systems. Remove them in the Health Connect app, or revoke DGTrack’s permission there to stop new ones being written.
What gets deleted
When you delete your account, we remove:
- Your account — email address, display name and sign-in credentials
- Your membership of every family you belong to
- Any family where you were the only member, including all of its dogs, records and photos
- Your notification tokens, so nothing can be sent to your devices
- Your app preferences and settings
What stays, and why
If your family has other members, the family’s records stay. The dogs, the history and the entries belong to the household, not to one account — deleting yours can’t wipe your partner’s record of the last two years of their dog’s care. Entries you made remain in the timeline.
If you want your name removed from those entries too, say so in your email and we’ll replace it with “a former member” while leaving the entries themselves intact.
Two other things persist briefly for ordinary technical reasons:
- Backups — encrypted backups cycle out on a rolling basis, so deleted content can survive in them for up to 30 days. It isn’t restored to the live service.
- Records we’re required to keep — anything we must retain by law, such as transaction records for tax purposes, is kept for as long as the law requires and used for nothing else.
Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription
This catches people out, so it’s worth its own heading. Premium is billed by Google Play, and only Google Play can cancel it.
Cancel first, then delete. Open the Google Play Store → your profile picture → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → DGTrack → Cancel subscription. Otherwise the charges carry on after your account is gone.
Take a copy before you go
Deletion is permanent and we cannot undo it. If there’s a chance you’ll want your dog’s history later, export it first — Premium includes CSV export of activity, health, products and dog information, and a printable PDF summary. Saving that somewhere takes a minute and can’t be done afterwards.
