Reminders aren’t arriving

Nearly always this is Android’s battery saving rather than the app. Phones from Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei, OnePlus and Oppo are the most aggressive about it — they suspend background apps to save power, and a suspended app can’t ring.

1. Allow notifications. Android Settings → Apps → DGTrack → Notifications. Everything on.
2. Turn battery optimisation off for DGTrack. Settings → Apps → DGTrack → Battery → Unrestricted. This is the one that fixes it most of the time.
3. Allow alarms and reminders. Settings → Apps → DGTrack → Alarms & reminders. DGTrack sets an on-device alarm as a backup to the push notification, and Android 12 and later gate that behind this permission.
4. On Samsung, also check Settings → Battery → Background usage limits, and make sure DGTrack isn’t in “Sleeping apps” or “Deep sleeping apps”.
5. Don’t swipe the app out of recents repeatedly. On some phones that tells the system you don’t want it running.

Every family member needs to do this on their own phone. Reminders are armed on each device separately, which is what makes them fire even when one person hasn’t opened the app in a week.

Entries aren’t showing up on the other phone

Check you’re both in the same family — open the family screen and compare the member list. Someone who entered a code but never finished joining won’t be in it.

DGTrack works offline and queues entries until you’re back on a connection, so an entry made in a dead zone appears once that phone has signal again. If both phones are online, in the same family, and still disagree, email us with the approximate time of the entry that’s missing.

The widget

Long-press an empty part of your home screen → Widgets → DGTrack, then drag it into place. Each widget pins its own dog, so add one per dog if you have more than one. It resizes from 2×2 upward — make it wider if the buttons look cramped.

If it stops updating, remove it and add it again. That re-binds it to the app after an update.

Premium and billing

• Premium covers your whole family. One person subscribes, everyone gets it. If a member isn’t seeing it, check they’re in the same family as the subscriber.
• New phone? Sign in with the same Google account and Premium restores automatically.
• Cancelling happens in Google Play: Play Store → profile picture → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → DGTrack. The app links you straight there.
• Refunds are handled by Google Play, not by us. Email us anyway if something has gone wrong and we’ll help you sort it out.

Walk tracking

A walk needs location permission and keeps a notification visible while it’s running — that notification is what stops Android killing the recording when your screen goes off. Don’t dismiss it mid-walk.

Distance and pace come from your phone’s GPS and are approximate. Under heavy tree cover or between tall buildings they’ll wander.

Sitters and temporary access

Two options, depending on whether they need the app.

• The care sheet — feeding times, medications, walk routine, vet and emergency contacts, as plain text you send through any messaging app. They don’t need to install anything.
• A 24-hour invite — full access while they’re there, expiring after a day and two uses, so they can log what they do and you can watch it happen.

Is there an iPhone version?

No. DGTrack is Android only.
