DGTrack keeps a record of your dog’s care and shares it with the people you choose. This policy explains exactly what that means for your information — what is collected, why, who can see it, and how to get rid of it.
The short version. We collect what the app needs to work and nothing else. We don’t sell your data, we don’t show ads, and we don’t use your dog’s health or activity information for advertising. Everything you put in can be exported or deleted by you, at any time, from inside the app.
1. Who we are
DGTrack is operated by DGTRACKIT LLC (“we”, “us”). We are the controller of the personal information described in this policy.
Postal address: 3322 Main St.
San Antonio, TX 78264
Email: help@dgtrack.store
This policy covers the DGTrack Android application and this website. DGTrack is available on Android only.
2. What DGTrack collects
Account information
Your email address and the display name you choose. These are used to sign you in and to attribute entries — the reason the app can say “Fed by Sam, 2 hours ago” rather than just “Fed”.
Your dogs and their care records
Everything you enter about your dogs and their day. Depending on how you use the app that can include:
- Dog profiles — name, breed, date of birth, weight, photo, microchip number
- Activity entries — meals, walks, pee, poop, and the times they happened
- Notes, amounts, stool type and symptoms you record on an entry
- Health records — vaccinations, medications and doses, weight history
- Vet, clinic and pet insurance details you choose to store
- Reminders and their outcomes, including who answered and whether they marked it done or skipped
- Products and brands you save, with any reorder links
Some of this is information about you rather than your dog — a vet’s contact details, an insurance policy number, an emergency contact. Treat it the way you would any other record you keep.
Photos
Only the photos you deliberately attach to a dog’s profile, a health record or a product. DGTrack does not scan, index or read the rest of your photo library. Granting the app access to your photos is a prerequisite for choosing one; it is not permission to look at the others.
Location, during a walk
When you start a walk, DGTrack records precise location so it can show distance, pace and the route. This is the only time location is collected. It runs as a foreground service — the one with the persistent notification — so recording continues with your screen off, and stops when you end the walk.
DGTrack does not track your location in the background, does not collect location when no walk is running, and does not use location for advertising or analytics. The route is stored with the walk and is deleted when you delete the walk.
Notification tokens
A push notification identifier issued to your device by Firebase Cloud Messaging. Reminders in DGTrack go to every member of a family, so we need a way to reach each device. The token identifies a device installation, not you personally, and it changes if you reinstall the app.
Device and diagnostic information
Basic technical information needed to run and fix the app: device model, Android version, app version, language and timezone, and crash reports when something goes wrong. Reminders are stored with the timezone they were created in, which is how “7am daily” stays 7am while you’re travelling.
Subscription status
Whether your family has an active Premium subscription. Payment itself is handled entirely by Google Play. We never see or store your card, bank details or billing address.
3. Why we collect it
- To run the app you asked for — storing your records, syncing them to the other people in your family, sending reminders, tracking walks.
- To show who did what — attribution is the point of the product, and it requires a name attached to each entry.
- To suggest things — the care rhythm, vaccination recommendations and reminder suggestions are calculated from your own dog’s records. This happens for your benefit and produces guidance, not decisions.
- To keep it working — diagnosing crashes, preventing abuse, and honouring your subscription.
- To answer you — if you email support, we use your message and address to reply.
If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area: our legal basis for most of the above is performance of our contract with you (Article 6(1)(b) UK/EU GDPR). For crash diagnostics and abuse prevention it is our legitimate interest in a working, secure app (Article 6(1)(f)). Where we ask for a permission — location, notifications, photos — the basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a)), and you can withdraw it at any time in Android’s settings.
4. What your family can see
This is the most important section in this policy, because it’s the part people don’t expect.
A family in DGTrack shares one record. When you join a family — or when someone joins yours — every member can see every dog in it, every activity entry, every health record and every reminder, including your display name and the times you logged things. That is what the app is for. It is not a synced copy of separate records; it is the same record.
Some things follow from that, and you should be comfortable with all of them before you share an invite code:
- Anyone you invite can see the full history, including entries made before they joined.
- Your name appears on everything you log, and on every reminder you answer.
- The family owner can manage members and dogs. Other members can log and view but cannot delete records.
- An invite code works for whoever holds it. Send it only to people you mean to let in.
- A 24-hour sitter invite expires after one day and two uses, and gives full access while it is valid. It does not retroactively hide anything the sitter saw.
- The dog-sitter care sheet is plain text that you send yourself through a messaging app. Once it has left DGTrack — in a text message, an email, a chat — it is outside our control and subject to whatever that service does with it. It contains your vet, your emergency contacts and your dog’s medications, so think about where you’re sending it.
You can belong to more than one family and switch between them. Families are separate: members of one cannot see the other.
5. Health Connect
If you turn it on, DGTrack writes completed walks to Android’s Health Connect as exercise sessions and distance, so a walk with your dog counts toward your own activity.
- This is optional and off until you grant permission.
- DGTrack writes walk data to Health Connect. It does not read your other health data.
- Data obtained through Health Connect is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, and never transferred to a data broker or information reseller.
- You can revoke the permission at any time in Health Connect. Data already written stays in Health Connect until you delete it there — that copy belongs to you, not to us.
6. Who else handles your information
We use a small number of service providers. They process data on our instructions and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
- Google Firebase (Google LLC) — hosts the database, authentication, file storage and push notifications. This is where your records live and how they reach the other phones in your family.
- Google Play Billing (Google LLC) — takes payment and tells us whether a subscription is active. Google is a separate controller for the payment itself; their handling of it is covered by Google’s own privacy policy.
- Health Connect — on your own device, under your control, as described above.
We may also disclose information if the law genuinely requires it, to protect someone’s safety, or as part of a merger or sale of the business — in which case you would be told before your information moved.
7. What we never do
- We do not sell your personal information, and we never have.
- We do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
- DGTrack contains no ads and no advertising SDKs.
- We do not use your dog’s health records, walk routes or Health Connect data for marketing.
- We do not build profiles of you, and nothing in the app makes an automated decision with a legal or similarly significant effect.
8. How long we keep it
Your records are kept for as long as your account exists, because the point of the app is a history you can look back through.
- Archiving a dog removes it from the family view and keeps every record, so it can be restored. A dog who has passed is not one tap away from being erased.
- Permanently deleting a dog is a separate action, confirmed twice, and removes that dog’s records and photos.
- Deleting your account removes your account and the data associated with it. See section 9.
- Crash logs and technical diagnostics are kept for up to 90 days.
- Backups may hold deleted content for up to 30 days before they cycle out.
One consequence of shared families is worth stating plainly: entries you logged remain part of your family’s shared record after you leave, because they are part of that dog’s history and the other members rely on them. If you want them removed, ask the family owner, or contact us.
9. Getting your data out, and deleting it
Export. Premium includes CSV export of activity, health, products and dog information, saved wherever you choose, plus a printable PDF summary for a vet visit.
Delete. You can delete your account from inside the app, and you can ask us to do it without installing anything. Full instructions, including what is removed and what is kept, are on the delete your data page.
Permissions. Location, notifications and photo access can each be revoked in Android settings at any time. The rest of the app carries on working; the feature that needed the permission stops.
10. Children
DGTrack is intended for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account, and the Play listing is directed at an adult audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Families often include teenagers, and that’s expected — a parent can invite a child to their family. If you do that, you are responsible for that member’s use of the app and for what they can see in it. If you believe a child under 13 has created their own account, email us at help@dgtrack.store and we will delete it.
11. Security
Data is encrypted in transit between your device and our servers, and encrypted at rest by our hosting provider. Access to the production database is limited to people who need it. Sign-in is handled by Firebase Authentication; we do not store your password.
No system is perfectly secure, and we won’t claim otherwise. Use a strong password on the account you sign in with, and be careful who you send invite codes to — the codes are the keys to your family’s records.
12. Where your information is held
We operate from the United States and our infrastructure is provided by Google. If you use DGTrack from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed there, under privacy laws that differ from your own. For transfers out of the UK and the EEA we rely on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, which Google incorporates into its terms.
13. If you are in the United States
Residents of California, and of other states with comparable privacy laws, have the right to know what personal information is collected and why, to request a copy of it, to request its deletion, to correct it, and not to be treated differently for exercising any of these rights.
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA, the categories we collect are identifiers (email, display name, device identifiers), internet or app activity (your care logs), geolocation (during walks only), and visual information (photos you attach). We collect them for the purposes in section 3, from you and from your device.
We have not sold or shared personal information in the preceding twelve months, as those terms are defined by the CCPA, and we do not sell or share the personal information of minors.
To exercise any of these rights, use the account deletion and export tools in the app, or email help@dgtrack.store. We will verify your request against the email address on your account and respond within 45 days. You may use an authorised agent, and you may appeal a refusal by replying to our response.
14. If you are in the UK or the EEA
You have the right to access your personal data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, receive it in a portable format, and withdraw any consent you have given. Exercising a right will never make the app worse for you.
Contact help@dgtrack.store and we will respond within one month. If you think we have got something wrong, you can complain to your national data protection authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
15. This website
This site runs on WordPress. It does not use advertising or tracking cookies, and it does not share visitor data with advertising networks. A cookie is set only if you leave a comment or sign in to the site, and analytics — where used — are aggregated and cookie-free, which is why you aren’t being asked to dismiss a consent banner.
If you contact us through a form, we receive what you typed and use it to reply.
16. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects how your information is used, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect rather than relying on you to re-read this page.
